Are you ready to lead the charge on groundbreaking projects? As a Senior Project Manager, you'll be the driving force behind complex, cross-functional business and technology initiatives. Your mission: deliver projects on time, within scope, and on budget. You'll be the glue that holds together relationships with stakeholders, executive leaders, vendors, and external partners. With your mastery of project management methodologies and KPIs, you'll inspire your team to reach new heights of success.
Here's some of what you will be doing:
- As a Project Portfolio Management team member, contributes to long term planning and vision implementation.
- Works closely with the Project Portfolio Manager and other senior-level Project Managers to continuously enhance, improve and put into practice the best delivery of project management practices for the ministry, effectively implementing solutions that deliver business value.
- Partners with Business Architects and Business Analysts to evaluate complex business and technology problems and questions.
- Partners with leadership and team members to help them achieve their goals through project scoping, monitoring milestones, removing roadblocks, and addressing needed decisions.
- Partners with Data Science, Technology, and team members to evaluate, select, and engage vendors to accomplish project work including preparing Request for Proposals (RFP), Statement of Work (SOW), and other related documents.
- Demonstrates an ability to move between single projects and holistic organization-wide connections; applies foresight when connecting concepts to enterprise components.
- Proactively helps to expand project management lifecycle concepts and best practices; utilizes best practices for selecting a communication method; and proactively drives adoption of tools, templates, and processes.
- Drives change through facilitating stakeholder collaboration, smoothing communication barriers when they exist.
- Uses relationship building and influencing skills to effectively manage the direction of projects to successful completion.
- Manages stakeholder expectations across key project constraints including budget, time, quality, resources, and scope.
- Develops comprehensive project deliverables including project plans, project strategy/vision, charter, goals and objectives, scope, schedule, and resource requirements (i.e., budget, people, and tools).
- Creates project risk and issue management plans and develops appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
- Provides project updates to leadership, project teams, and key stakeholders on a regular basis, including report on project issues and risks.
- Uses appropriate communication techniques based on the audience to ensure successful outcomes.
- Leads project team to ensure appropriate stakeholders are involved in all aspects of the project.
- Thinks outside of the box to remove roadblocks and support the project team to achieve results.
- Effectively utilizes Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) methodologies and incorporates best practices into daily work practices.
- Consults and collaborates with various levels of management and project stakeholders to create, review, and approve project proposals.
- Manages multiple moderate to complex and non-routine projects simultaneously.
- Directs and coordinates the activities of project team members including less experienced project managers, team leads, team members, subject matter experts (SMEs), and other project stakeholders.
- Holds project team members accountable for completing project work on time, in scope and within budget, meeting customer expectations.
- Identifies, assesses, and recommends innovative solutions that improve ministry operations and the ability to serve our customers.
- Takes full responsibility for own work and tasks, and that of others where applicable.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Here's some experience we are seeking:
- Bachelor’s degree, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
- PMI PMP certification required.
- 4-7 years of experience working as a Project Manager on moderate to complex projects with multiple business sponsors, timelines, and dependencies.
- Extensive experience successfully planning, organizing, leading, directing, and managing projects.
- Experience with Project Management Life Cycle methodologies (e.g., PMI PMBOK).
- Proficiency with MS Project and MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate with leadership, business, and technical staff.
- Proven ability to use influence and conflict resolution skills to effectively manage the direction of projects to successful completion with measurable results.
- Employ a collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Must be a team player and leader.
- Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships. Exhibit emotional intelligence.
- Persuasive and patient manner with the demonstrated ability to “bring calm to chaos”.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate with leadership, business, and technical staff.
- Strong technical documenting skills; particularly with using Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and cloud- based collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Possess the ability to adapt to new organizational areas quickly and easily.
- Experienced with the software development lifecycle and ability to understand technology to understand the impacts technology has on achieving business outcomes.
- Exercise judgment and business/ministry acumen in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Decisions and solutions may impact current/future design and strategy of ministry offerings, technologies, and/or operational practices.
