What will your work involve?
- Oversee strategic planning and implementation for benefit programs, with a focus on Human Resources goals, timelines, budgets, communication, results tracking, and celebration.
- Assess benefit and total rewards performance against both annual goals and plans. Provide strategic recommendations based on operational analysis, research, and projections, cost identification and allocation, and resource analysis. Ensure tools and systems are in place to provide critical operational and project information to the Chief People Officer and others and make actionable recommendations on both strategic goals and operational constraints.
- Provide leadership for the benefit function and Human Resource Team, ensuring ministry wide collaboration and communication, facilitating appropriate resolution of issues and competing priorities. Ensure alignment of Human Resources initiatives with Ministry objectives.
- Engage Director of People Operations on Human Resource issues, trends, and proposals for benefit and related initiatives. Collaborate closely with other departments such as legal, finance, etc.
- Participate in strategic planning and implementation for Human Resource initiatives with a focus on benefits, timelines, budgets, communication, and results tracking.
- Administer Benefits related policies and procedures, assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with policies and guidelines.
- Provide administration and management of K-LOVE benefit plans and programs. Provide a high level of customer service to staff regarding benefits and other HR initiatives. Demonstrate proactiveness in communication; anticipate problems, employee concerns and questions; and deliver exceptional follow-through with issue resolution.
- Lead open enrollment activities, in partnership with leader. These activities include project planning, system and vendor updates and revisions and communications. Partner and provide reports and input into analysis for benefits review and open enrollment. Assist in developing processes and communication pieces and take ownership for accurate tracking and reporting for open enrollment and overall benefits enrollment/terminations/changes throughout the year. In addition, this position plays an active role in the coordination, execution, and evaluation of open enrollment, serving as the main point of contact for vendors and staff.
- Maintain communication and relationships with Third Party Administrator (TPA), and Vendor Account Managers, etc.
- Collaborate closely with external benefits broker to evaluate, negotiate, and implement comprehensive benefits program, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as primary liaison between the ministry and benefits broker to manage annual renewals, market benchmarking, vendor performance, and issue resolution.
- Research methods and make recommendations as needed to improve benefits package and cost containment strategies.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and People Operations to leverage benefits, wellness programs, supporting talent recruitment, retention, and culture.
- Partner with People Operations and vendors to develop training material.
- Process benefits paperwork and documentation. Interact with appropriate vendors and providers, ensuring accurate internal processing of information in the HRIS systems and appropriate filing and reporting.
- Responsible for system support and accuracy in HR transactional processes. Maintain data integrity and documentation in personnel files and core HR systems through pro-active means (audits, testing, etc.) and drive activities around compliance.
- Establish and maintain familiarity with provisions of existing as well as new federal and state laws to help determine impact on benefit plans. Ensure legal compliance within benefit and other practices; maintains appropriate regulatory and legal compliance programs (COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, Section 125, and other federal and state regulations). Assist as appropriate with EEO and other reporting; and collect, prepare, comment/analyze, and report on HR Metrics within areas of responsibility.
- Proactively engage with staff answering benefits related questions and concerns. Demonstrate a positive connection with staff members, as the first point of contact for benefit-related matters - elevating issues as appropriate.
- Work with the Director of People Operations and the CPO on special assignments and partner with Human Resources team on special projects.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or Communications, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
- Professional certification in Human Resources and/or benefits, preferred.
- 3 plus years of managerial/leadership experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience/knowledge of Human Resources with expertise in benefits administration and HIPAA laws.
- General understanding of comprehensive and typical benefit plans offered by healthcare, dental, vision, life, disability, and supplemental insurance carriers.
- Experience and knowledge of COBRA.
- Experience and expertise in open enrollment processes (communication pieces, organization, tracking systems, reporting, etc.)
- Human Resource experience within a multi-state environment and 500+ staff (ministry environment preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment with confidential information.
- Experience with HRIS systems (ADP experience preferred).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Navigation).
- Solid understanding of state, federal, and local employment laws and regulations including EEOC and OSHA (as needed).
- Demonstrated successful project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Business focused with a sense of urgency in meeting deadlines, excellent attention to detail and exceptional follow-through.
- Exceptional ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written within and outside the ministry.
- Possess strong presentation skills.
