WBIR, the #1 TEGNA-owned station located in beautiful Knoxville, TN, is looking to add a high-performing
National Sales Assistant to our exceptional sales organization.
This position will provide vital support to the
WBIR sales managers and TEGNA’s national sales team, working closely with Account Executives and Sales Managers across our national offices in New York, Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
Together with the National Sales Manager, this role plays a key part in executing and maintaining television and digital advertising campaigns across WBIR properties.
Responsibilities
- Manage national advertising orders from start to finish, including entry, revisions, and cancellations.
- Create and manage makegood offers for preemptions, maximizing inventory and securing final approvals.
- Collaborate with the National Sales Manager and TEGNA’s national AE team to support client needs and maintain campaign accuracy.
- Track campaign performance using ratings, impressions, client KPIs, and fulfillment metrics.
- Attend sales meetings and trainings to stay informed about products, processes, and industry trends.
- Coordinate new customer account setup, contracts, order entry, and revisions.
- Proactively identify and resolve billing issues before month-end close.
- Research and trouble-shoot issues, ensuring solutions meet both client and station goals.
- Provide additional support to local managers and the sales team as needed.
Requirements
- College-degree preferred
- Demonstrated self-motivation, teamwork, and a proactive mindset
- Ability to be creative, flexible, and adaptable to shifting priorities
- Prior experience in broadcast media, sales support, or agency roles is a plus
- Strong customer service orientation and communication skills
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and internal systems like WOMS and WOC
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Must be able to create business correspondence and reports as needed
