Junior Designer - 12 Month Contract
The UMC team works in a hybrid, flexible environment with four days a week from our creative campus located in Liberty Village, Toronto and one day of work virtually.
Reporting to the Senior Designer, the Junior Designer would work on projects such as artist branding, album artwork, artist websites, merch, and more. The Junior Designer supports the strategic business and marketing plans using the creative process. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and energetic cutting-edge designer adept at illustration, print media, websites, logo design, and photography direction with a passion for music.
How You’ll Lead:
Design artist CD & Vinyl packaging projects
Develop print advertising and promotional materials for domestic and international artists
Design merchandise for retail and touring artists
Offer creative visual solutions that adhere to business/marketing plans
Deliver accurate files for print specifications, formats and transfer protocols
Work with artists to develop brand identities
Work with photographers for press/album photos
Work with the digital team to design websites, interactive experiences
Create digital elements and work with digital team on artist site branding
Work independently and collaboratively to successfully manage and meet deadlines of simultaneous and competing projects
What You Bring:
3 years of experience and a graphic design diploma/degree required
A digital portfolio that showcases a wide range of design thinking
Must have advanced knowledge of the Mac platform including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat
Illustration skills; computer or freehand
Excellent follow-through with specific attention to detail
Able to work within a team environment and to specific direction
Self-starter who can take initiative and apply new and exciting design ideas and concepts to everyday work
Must be passionate about pop culture, social culture and music culture that spans many genres
Positivity, passion, a competitive edge, and opinions you can stand behind
Bold, ambitious, creative thinking; an entrepreneurial style and a growth mindset
Excellent communication skills anchored by honesty, approachability, and an open mind
