Your role:
Responsible for driving and overseeing sync licensing activities within Canada, possessing a strong blend of creative, marketing, and sales expertise to identify and capitalize on sync opportunities across various media, including film, television, advertising, video games, and emerging platforms. The role will lead and mentor the local team, tying into the Global Sync organization, who will foster strong relationships with stakeholders, and work collaboratively with global sync teams to achieve revenue targets and create impactful sync moments for WMG artists.
Here you’ll get to:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the regional sync strategy in alignment with global objectives, focusing on maximizing revenue and market penetration.
- Creative Direction: Provide creative guidance to the sync team, ensuring an understanding of market trends, client needs, and the optimal placement of WMG's diverse music catalog. This includes active involvement in pitching and curating music for various projects.
- Business Development & Sales: Drive aggressive sales efforts to identify and secure new sync opportunities. This involves cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with music supervisors, advertising agencies, production companies, brands, and other potential clients within the region.
- Marketing & Promotion: Implement effective marketing strategies to promote WMG's sync catalog and services within the territory. This may include organizing showcases, attending industry events, and developing compelling promotional materials.
- Revenue Generation & Budget Management: Accountable for achieving regional sync revenue targets and managing the regional budget effectively.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with global sync teams, A&R, marketing, legal, and finance departments to ensure seamless execution of sync deals and projects.
About you:
- You have 10 or more years of management experience, demonstrating a proven track record of leading large teams and a high level of leadership, communications, and relationship-building skills.
- You have deep knowledge of sync licensing and synchronization rights, including an understanding of different types of licenses, usage restrictions, and rights associated with music synchronization.
- You have a comprehensive understanding of music ownership rights and intellectual property laws, including music publishing, master recording rights, and copyright ownership.
- You are passionate about staying updated and informed about current trends, market demands, and industry standards in sync licensing across film, television, advertising, and online streaming.
- You enjoy making sound decisions under pressure, using critical thinking to solve complex problems, and executing tactical clearances and pitches to potential clients

- Exceptional general catalog knowledge, understanding the diverse range of music tracks and genres available for sync licensing to make highly informed music recommendations.
- Mastery of skills and deep expertise across the sync licensing function and the broader occupational domain.
