The Associate Director, International FP&A serves as the senior finance leader responsible for strategic financial planning, commercial finance, deal governance, and operational financial support across BMI’s international operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the VP of Finance, this role acts as the primary strategic finance partner to international leadership and the key liaison to the US parent company FP&A organization. This position combines enterprise FP&A leadership, international business partnership, deal desk oversight, strategic modeling, and governance responsibilities within a complex multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
Responsibilities
Budgeting, Forecasting & Long-Range Planning
- Lead the annual operating plan, rolling forecasts, long-range planning, and strategic financial modeling processes for BMI’s international operations through Workday Adaptive Planning.
- Establish global planning assumptions, governance timelines, and deliverables aligned to corporate FP&A requirements and executive leadership expectations.
- Partner with international leadership to evaluate strategic investments, market expansion opportunities, pricing strategies, capital allocation, and organizational scaling initiatives.
- Consolidate and present international financial submissions to the US parent company with executive-level insights on business drivers, risks, opportunities, market dynamics, and operational performance.
- Develop executive-ready scenario analyses and sensitivity modeling to support strategic decision-making.
Deal Desk & Commercial Finance
- Build and lead the international deal desk function supporting sales, licensing, partnerships, and strategic commercial arrangements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Provide financial leadership on complex commercial transactions including pricing strategy, profitability analysis, ROI evaluation, margin optimization, and risk assessment.
- Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Accounting, Sales, Operations, and Corporate Finance to structure commercially sound and compliant agreements aligned with ASC 606, IFRS, transfer pricing considerations, and international regulatory requirements.
- Establish scalable governance frameworks, approval matrices, commercial review standards, and financial controls for international deal execution.
- Monitor post-close deal performance and implement feedback loops to improve commercial outcomes and forecasting accuracy.
Financial Performance & Reporting
- Lead monthly and quarterly international performance reporting, including executive variance analysis against budget, forecast, prior year, and strategic targets.
- Deliver concise executive-level reporting packages and business insights to senior leadership and corporate stakeholders.
- Partner closely with the International Controller to align operational forecasts with actual financial results across US GAAP, IFRS, and UK GAAP reporting frameworks.
- Support consolidated international reporting, including foreign currency impacts, operational KPIs, and regional performance analysis.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve profitability, operating leverage, and investment prioritization.
Business & Strategic Analysis
- Develop executive-ready scenario analyses, strategic modeling, and sensitivity analyses to support market expansion, pricing, investment, and capital allocation decisions.
- Evaluate business drivers, revenue streams, customer economics, profitability trends, and operating leverage to inform executive decision-making.
- Partner with HR and executive leadership on performance-based compensation modeling, workforce planning, and organizational investment decisions.
Business Partnership
- Serve as the primary strategic finance partner to BMI’s international leadership team and the main liaison to the US parent company FP&A organization.
- Present financial insights, recommendations, and business cases to executive leadership teams and senior stakeholders.
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders, build relationships across geographically dispersed teams, and drive accountability across international operations.
Adaptive Planning Ownership
- Serve as the international functional owner for Workday Adaptive Planning including model architecture, governance, security, reporting structures, and process optimization.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance forecasting accuracy, reporting automation, scalability, and executive analytics capabilities.
- Standardize planning processes, reporting packages, KPI frameworks, and financial operating rhythms across international markets.
- Develop training materials and lead enablement sessions for finance and business stakeholders.
Corporate FP&A & Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as the primary finance liaison between international operations and the US parent FP&A organization.
- Support executive leadership, board reporting, investor-related deliverables, lender reporting, and debt covenant compliance activities.
- Drive consistency between international and corporate planning methodologies, assumptions, and reporting standards.
Cash Flow & Treasury Support
- Lead international cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital analysis.
- Build and maintain integrated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasting models.
- Partner with Treasury and Corporate Finance on funding strategies, capital allocation, foreign exchange considerations, and liquidity management across international markets.
- Support strategic evaluation of capital deployment and operational efficiency opportunities.
Team Leadership
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to finance team members and embedded regional finance resources.
- Build scalable finance processes and organizational capabilities to support international growth.
- Foster a culture of financial discipline, operational excellence, business partnership, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in organizational design, succession planning, and future-state finance operating model development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; MBA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, commercial finance, or international finance leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience operating within a complex, global, multi-entity organization.
- Strong experience leading enterprise planning processes, executive reporting, and cross-functional business partnership initiatives.
- Hands-on expertise with Workday Adaptive Planning or comparable enterprise planning platforms
- Proven track record building or leading commercial finance and/or deal desk functions
- Advanced financial modeling, strategic analysis, and executive presentation skills
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, UK GAAP, revenue recognition, and multi-currency financial environments
- Experience supporting board reporting, executive leadership presentations, and corporate finance initiatives
- Ability to influence senior executives and operate effectively in highly matrixed environments
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable business insights
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced global environment
