Opportunity: We seek a strategic, creative, and influential HR leader to serve as a business partner to senior leadership across Business Operations and Technology around the globe, and to run local HR operations in AP’s London office.
Reporting to the SVP and Chief People Officer, you will be a leader in promoting a globally minded HR team capable of meeting HR needs within an established and consistent global framework. With the team, you will drive cultural transformation and bolster leadership efforts to build a collaborative, adaptive and inclusive culture closely aligned with strategic business goals.
This role blends strategic vision and influence with hands-on execution. You will lead people directly and through influence to support employees across multiple global locations and in different business units.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain trusted relationships throughout the organization in support of the business priorities and the employee experience.
- Lead and collaborate on strategy execution and the design and implementation of people initiatives, both in day-to-day operations and in meeting long-term strategic goals.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders who regularly recommends solutions to business challenges using sound judgment and referencing solid prior experience.
- Partner with global HR colleagues and regional leaders to adapt and deliver HR programs across diverse geographies and cultural contexts.
- Provide proactive, consultative support on organizational design, workforce planning, change management, and team effectiveness.
- Collaborate with leadership to support the optimization of organizational structure, manage team performance, and develop long-term talent strategies.
- Manage complex employee relations matters in partnership with internal and external legal counsel.
- Ensure HR practices comply with global employment laws and regulations, adapting policies to be culturally sensitive and legally compliant across all regions.
- Act as project manager for non-U.S. collective bargaining processes, support HR Business Partners in tracking and coordinating multi-country agreements to ensure timely preparation, alignment, and execution on changes across global regions. Lead negotiations and talks where appropriate.
- Oversee HR operations for the London office; monitoring and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a business partner role supporting global teams.
- Experience supporting multi-country operations and navigating HR practices across varied regulatory and cultural environments.
- Driven by mission and understands the importance of independent journalism.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is required for success in this role.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, manage change, and align people strategies with business priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree or HR certification is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage HR data for decision-making.
- High level of discretion and sound judgment.
- Excellent relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization, from executives to early-career employees.
- Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required; additional language skills are a plus.
- Authorization to work in the United Kingdom for any employer is mandatory.
