The Role:
UMG’s Digital Rights Administration team is dedicated to monitoring and monetizing content on digital platforms. We are currently seeking an eager and exceptional new hire to work in our Digital Right Administration team. The ideal candidate will work on daily requests/issues in relation to YouTube, Facebook, Tik Tok. Assist with rights management tasks for all UGC partners and assist with special projects. This consists of troubleshooting issues, resolving conflicts, manually claiming where the platforms have failed to identify our copyrights and analyzing catalogs delivered to these platforms for accurate and complete information. The team’s goal is to maximize value from the rights of UMG’s recording artists in the digital space through content claiming.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys learning how systems work, following directions, troubleshooting issues, processing claims, maintaining organized records, and utilizing critical thinking skills to identify potential problems.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Establish an in-depth understanding of UGC partner’s content management systems and their relation to the protection and exploitation of UMG music on their platforms
- Establish an in-depth understanding of UMG’s internal systems
- Surface any issues encountered while using the CMS tool and UMG internal systems to team lead and coordinate to develop solutions
- Assist with issues queues for UGC partners
- Work with UMG repertoire owners, distributed labels to guarantee the satisfactory use of their recordings, as well as with third-parties to resolve claim disputes and ownership conflicts
- Communicate with other rights holders to resolve disputes and conflicts relating to the ownership of UMG recordings
- Increase advertising revenue by exploring YouTube for popular User Generated Content (“UGC”) and claiming videos that incorporate UMG’s recordings
- Engage with other UMG departments as needed, helping to ensure that all stakeholders are aware of our claiming activities
Required Skills & abilities:
- Experience using new media and social networks, specifically YouTube, Facebook & Instagram
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and Google Sheets
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Superior organizational skills and task management
- Forward thinking and ambitious; ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Detail oriented, ability to multi-task, and handle large volume of email requests
- Familiarity with Universal’s artists and catalogue, ability to creatively search for UGC using UMG’s content
- YouTube CMS experience and/or certification preferred
- Facebook Rights Manager experience preferred
- Tik Tok Media Match experience preferred
Desired Experience:
- Experience in new media and social networks, specifically YouTube, Facebook & Instagram
- 1-2 years at a music or entertainment company, digital platform, social network, rights management firm, preferred
- Rights management or copyright experience, a plus
